my recent planting

well over the last couple days ive been planting seeds like crazy. i planted 97 seed pods of vegtables and flowers.
i planted cucmbers, peas, tomatos, bell peppers, zucchuni, sweet william, zinnias, a wild flower mix, marigolds, radishes, carrots, parsley, chives and pumpkins. all i can say is that ive been busy.

have you ever noticed all the natural distasters happening lately?

well in alaska one volcano erupted 5 times in one night, and in chile 2 more volcanoes erupted for 12 hrs or so , then in another part of the world cannot quite remember at the moment has had mutiple eruptions and the one in the middle of the ocean, do you think its a sign? i believe that one day we will be wiped of this world from all of the pollution we have created in the last 150 yrs or so well since atuomobiles were made. but cant we all help out the planet just once to keep our world for the future? doesnt anyone ever think of the kids, grandkids, great grandkids that will be inhabiting this who knows what place that we are going to end up leaving for them? i do all the time even though i dont have a child. and its a scary thought to me cuz i love kids, love to have 12 of my own but the way this planet is going downhill it makes me want to cry for the fact that WE ARE KILLING IT AND NO ONE IS TRYING TO SAVE IT . pls we all need to do our part to keep this place beautiful for all our generations after us .

well its almost spring and we all really need to know what " zone " we are in in order to keep our plants thriving in any and all conditions, so here is the zoning map and what ever zone you live in make sure the plant you by can live in that zone or it will die

Get your Seeds Started

Now is the time to shop for seeds at garden centers or mailorder companies. Here are three methods of starting seeds indoors:

Containers from home. Sow seeds in plastic cups, margarine tubs, or yogurt cups with holes punched in the bottoms to drain excess moisture. Put containers on a waterproof tray. Cover with plastic wrap and keep out of direct sun until seeds germinate.

Peat pellets. Drop compressed pellets into warm water until they expand. Plant seeds in the expanded pellets and place in tray with plastic dome. When seedlings emerge, remove the plastic dome. As seedlings and roots mature, plant pellets in a pot or in the ground.

Self-watering seed starter. Kit includes a seed tray, capillary mat, growing stand, and water reservoir with a clear cover. The capillary mat provides even bottom watering by wicking water from the reservoir. There's enough water in the reservoir to keep seedlings moist for about five days.

Use a fluorescent bulb 3 to 4 inches above seedlings to provide enough light. Water seedlings from the bottom to discourage damping off, and fertilize once they have some true leaves.
