Local San Francisco gardening powerhouse Flora Grubb, whose San Francisco garden shop is chock-full of amazing plant installations, has some really fun, unusual offerings for Valentine's Day presents in her web shop.
My personal favorite is this hanging plant display, Little Heart Shaped World ($20). Only four inches square, it's nearly small enough to fit around your neck as an avant-garde pendant!

The savvy experts over at Gardeners recently posted an article showing their fans and customers how to pot an amaryllis. If you want to introduce some beautiful color into your Winter home, try potting amaryllis bulbs.
All you'll need is an amaryllis bulb, fresh potting soil, and a heavy pot with a drainage hole.

Writing a dating profile is a laborious but necessary task if we ever want to meet anyone online. When I've created profiles, I viewed them not as a tool to tell potential suitors everything about me, but as a teaser and a litmus test.
I try to have fun while I write.

One of the true joys of Summer gardening (and Summer farmers markets, for that matter) are just-picked, juicy tomatoes. Luckily, you can grow tomatoes in containers, so even the smallest patio garden can benefit from a delicious tomato plant. There are some important things to consider, though.

While the general rule with houseplants is to not fuss with them too much, occasionally washing their leaves is a really good idea. That's because a thin layer of dust can hinder the photosynthesis process, impeding plants' ability to grow.
To clean your heartier, bigger houseplants, occasionally crowd them into your bathtub and give them a nice, gentle shower.

TeamSugar member Lafx23 recently wrote in, saying:
I have a lot of unwanted grass and weeds growing around my pool area (especially wild onions), and I really want to get rid of them. Every year it seems like they just come back twice as bad as the year before. Any suggestions on the best ways to kill them off?

When a friend's son came home from preschool enthusiastically telling her about the sunflower seeds he had planted and watered in a little plastic cup, I was inspired to teach my tots about the benefits of gardening. My lil ones know a thing or two about the fruits and vegetables we eat from our frequent trips to the farmers market, but I wasn't sure they knew what was involved in making the food grow. By allowing them to plant and care for the seeds themselves, I thought they would gain a greater appreciation for what ends up on our plates.

The unofficial start of ragweed season was Aug. 15.
Seventeen species of this inconspicuous weed grow throughout the US, but mostly on the East Coast and Midwest.
